Australian Kelpies for adoption in New Mexico

The Australian Kelpie is a medium-sized working dog with a heart of gold and boundless energy. Built for endurance, the Kelpie's lithe frame and effortless movement belie incredible strength and stamina. Their intelligence and natural herding instincts make them incredibly versatile working companions. This lean, muscular breed boasts a soft, short coat that comes in a variety of colors—black, tan, fawn, and everything in between. White markings are common, a testament to their breeders’ focus on ability over appearance. Kelpie dogs can also sport a sleek, double coat in a more defined palette of black, chocolate, red, fawn, and various combinations with tan. All Australian Kelpies have distinctively pricked ears that stand alert.
