Toby's Story

Little Toby has come to town — and he’s ready for a fresh start filled with love and security. 💛

After his owner passed away in NC, Toby was left with a relative who kept him outdoors. Because of that, he’s now looking for a forever home where he can truly be part of the family as an indoor companion. That said, Toby absolutely loves to run and play, so a fenced yard would make his dream home complete!

Toby is wonderful with other dogs and appears to be okay with cats, too. He has experienced a lot of change in a short time, so he’ll need a patient adopter willing to give him time to decompress and settle in. Once he feels safe, his sweet and loyal personality shines.

He is now crate trained and mostly housebroken. Toby does especially well in his crate at mealtime! Rainy days aren’t his favorite — he may need a little gentle encouragement to venture outside when the weather isn’t cooperating.

On the bright side, Toby’s leash manners are excellent! He walks beautifully on a leash and truly enjoys his strolls. He’s also a perfect gentleman in the car, making him a wonderful companion for outings and adventures.

Toby’s stats:

Wire-haired Fox Terrier / Norfolk Terrier mix (per scanner)

2 years old

17 pounds

Fully vaccinated

4DX negative

Neutered

Microchipped

Because Toby was not previously around children, we are recommending an adult-only home at this time.

Toby is a delightful little companion with so much love to give. He’s simply waiting for the right person to give him the stable, caring home he deserves.

If you’re interested in fostering or adopting Toby, please email adoptionsecondchance@gmail.com or text Ann at 757-630-6181
for a quick response. Second Chance Habitat's Adoption Policy
Our goal is to match each of our rescue dogs with a safe, loving, and permanent home. To ensure the best fit for both the dog and the adopter, we require a completed adoption application, three personal references (including your current veterinarian), and a home visit, either virtual or in person. If you do not have any pets, then the request for a vet reference does not apply. As a 100% volunteer-run organization, we put our hearts into every adoption. For more information about our adoption process, please visit www.secondchancehabitat.org/adoptions Thank you for choosing to rescue and save a life!
