Oliver's Story

For six years, Oliver has been someone's good boy. He's learned his basic commands, mastered house training and crate training, and filled his role as a loving companion. Now, through circumstances he can't understand, his world has gotten much smaller.

His owner recently had to move in with family while facing financial hardship. Oliver no longer has a yard, has little space, and is spending far more time in his kennel because the household isn't fond of dogs. With that living situation likely to last at least two years, his owner knows she can't ask him to keep waiting for things to change.

She says he's becoming quieter and more withdrawn, and it hurts to watch a dog she loves lose some of his spirit.

"He is such an amazing dog," she told us. Her hope is to find him a home where he can have the care, freedom, and companionship she's no longer able to provide.

Oliver is a 7-year-old Australian Shepherd/Corgi mix weighing approximately 35-40 pounds. He adores children, likes other dogs, and is scared of cats. He may need a little time to settle in with unfamiliar people, but his owner describes a sweet companion who wants to make his people happy. In their six years together, she says she has never seen an ounce of aggression from him.

He's housebroken, crate trained, knows basic commands, and isn't destructive in the home. He already has so many of the skills that make sharing life with a dog a joy. What he needs now is a chance to put those skills to use with a new family.

Oliver is neutered and has no reported medical conditions requiring medication or a special diet. His vaccines and preventive care need to be brought up to date, as his owner can no longer afford basic veterinary care.

Oliver is currently in St. Peters, Missouri, and needs a new home as soon as possible.

Somewhere, there's a family who could give Oliver room to stretch, children to adore, and a place beside them at the end of the day. A home where he can spend his days being part of the family.

Could that family be yours? Please reach out to Animal Angels Network if you can help Oliver begin his next chapter.
