Kaia's Story

Kaia
Boxer/bulldog mix
3 years old, 45 pounds
Fully vaccinated, heartworm negative, spayed, microchipped.

This beautiful young girl is Kaia, rescued from the Duplin County kill shelter on her last day two years ago, and she has become such a smart, well-behaved family member!
Unfortunately, her human parents divorced and now the mom is working 24 hour days and Kaia needs another home where she can get more attention.
Kaia has so many good qualities, though. She is good with other dogs (and kids!), knows her commands and is excellent on a leash. Plus, she is housebroken and crate trained! AND if you get her close to a pool, she will show you how to have fun! She dives in after the "noodles" and enjoys playing keep away from her playmates.

Her mom says she will even sit and wait for her food until she is given the go ahead to eat. Not bad, huh? One other important thing about Kaia: She loves to snuggle! She's in her dream world when she can cuddle next to a family member on a sofa or big pillow. That is definitely her sweet spot!

If you would like to meet Kaia, you can see for yourself what a charmer she is. Kaia is used to having a big fenced in yard to play in and she will live her best life with that same environment since she loves the freedom of being able to run and play.

In her original words from the shelter:
"I'm Kaia and I came in as a stray along with Bari! I am a super sweet girl who absolutely adores attention! Especially.... belly rubs. They are the most amazing thing ever! I sure do hope you have plenty of scratches and rubs prepared for me! I will gladly plop down beside you on the couch belly up to receive them! I do know how to sit and I walk well on a leash so we can go to the dog parks or even PetsMart to get those squeaky toys, you know! I love to play with other dogs so a fur sibling would be cool. I look forward to our life together! If you take me home, I promise to be good!"

If you are interested in fostering or adopting Kaia, please email adoptionsecondchance@gmail.com or text Ann at 757-630-6181.

Second Chance Habitat's Adoption Policy
Our goal is to match each of our rescue dogs with a safe, loving, and permanent home. To ensure the best fit for both the dog and the adopter, we require a completed adoption application, three personal references (including your current veterinarian), and a home visit, either virtual or in person. If you do not have any pets, then the request for a vet reference does not apply. As a 100% volunteer-run organization, we put our hearts into every adoption.
