Carter's Story

Hi everyone! My name is Carter, and I am a sweet, shy boy with a difficult past. I’m a scruffy Border Terrier/Poodle mix, about 3 years old, 18 pounds, and I was rescued, along with many other dogs, from deplorable conditions in a hoarder house. No one cared for us or socialized us with humans; we survived on scraps when the owner went dumpster diving. Our lives were awful!

It was a scary day when the city of Port Lavaca picked us up, but what a blessing to now be in foster homes, safe, fed, clean, and loved! It took me some time to feel safe, and I am still shy overall, but I am making wonderful strides and finally enjoying being a dog! I am also now neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and have all my veterinary records packed and ready to leave Texas behind!

First and foremost, I’m sweet and gentle, quiet like a little mouse, but these days I am branching out and having some fun playing with my new doggy friends. Although I tend to gravitate toward the other shy dogs, we run, wrestle, and enjoy our playtime. I’m learning about dog toys and human affection. Both are very new to me. I’m also learning about walking on a leash, but I'm still trying to overcome that fear and will just lie down instead of walking. When I get adopted, it would be great to have a built-in dog friend for company and support, but I'm not a fan of sharing my food bowl with them... I mean, I finally have some yummy food of my own on a regular basis. Overall, I am blossoming beautifully, with a bit more to go, but I’m proving to be a wonderfully sweet, well-behaved boy, and I am already housebroken if someone will let me outside when it's time. I think a low-chaos home with patient doggy parents would be ideal for me! Inquire about me today.
Adoption Fee: $700

LOOKING FOR AN APPLICATION?
