Bo ADOPTED's Story

WE ARE NOT A SHELTER. WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE: To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in.

Here is the Dog Application that you can copy and paste into a browser: https://fs17.formsite.com/waverlypetrescue/form028182466/index.html

Bo came from a litter near Clarksville, Iowa, where the owners of the mother hadn't got her spayed yet. They needed help finding him a home so we took him in and he became a Waverly Pet Rescue Puppy. Bo went to a foster home to live.

Bo was born around Jan. 2026. So is now about 9 months old as of September 2026. He is already about 80 pounds and still growing. He has thrived in his foster home with very experienced dog and puppy people. They have trained him to be a good canine citizen.

Bo - such a gentle giant, loves to be included in everything his humans are doing. He does great with dogs, cats and he loves kids. He walks well on a leash and is working on basic commands. Bo loves to lay in the front yard and watch everything going on in the neighborhood. He would love a family that is willing to take him along on family adventures (he rides great in the car) and let him snuggle on the couch. He has a very goofy/quirky personality which makes every day fun. He loves to hold his leash and walk himself.

Bo had a mouth issue when we took him in. Some sort of an infection that the vets were very worried about. He had x-rays, ultrasounds, dental x-rays. He also went to an actual dog dentist and after many tests, it was determined this issue/infection was healing on its own and no further action needed to be taken. Yay!

In the 7 months that the foster family has cared for and raised Bo, they have fallen in love and has bonded deeply with the whole family. Best news ever is that they are now going to adopt him. Congrats to Bo and his forever home!

WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE. All donations are tax deductible. We do not have a shelter. All pets live in foster homes. We only adopt to indoor homes. To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in. We do background checks on all applicants. If you have assault, domestic abuse, or drug charges please do not apply. If you have questions, please send an email to waverlypetrescue@mchsi.com

All animals see a vet for shots and normal exams. If they appear healthy and there are no obvious health concerns, then extensive testing is not done. This is normal procedure for pet rescues and shelters.
Waverly Pet Rescue puts a lot of money into medical care for each dog and cat we take in. $450 is the average cost for basic care. This does not include if the animal had an injury, required extra flea / ear mite treatments, or needed extra days at the vet office.
