****We are Pets Are Worth Saving (P.A.W.S) Stephenville, TX - We are a small, foster based animal rescue, 501(c)3 non-profit organization, based out of Stephenville, TX. We work to rehabilitate and rehome unwanted cats and dogs in Stephenville and surrounding towns. We have recently expanded our scope to include Hamilton County, TX and are currently working with the City of Hamilton and the Hico Police Department to find loving foster and permanent homes for dogs that have been abandoned and have ended up in the Hamilton Pound or the Hico Animal Shelter. <br/> Pets Are Worth Saving (P.A.W.S.)'s mission is to sponsor low cost spay/neuter and wellness exams, provide community education and provide food and supplies to those in need. We also do our best to find loving homes for abandoned, neglected, or abused animals. Our animals are vaccinated and on preventatives. Interested in a somewhat large couch companion? Perhaps, Aggie is the gal for you?!<br/><br/>Meet Aggie!!<br/><br/>Poor Aggie wandered up to someone's property near Shive, TX about a week or more ago. She was very thin and malnourished. Fortunately, she was brought to the Hico Animal Shelter, where she's been getting the care and love she so greatly deserves. We think she was kept inside and used for breeding, then was abandoned after her last litter was weaned. <br/><br/>She's been to the vet, had all kinds of tests run, and she's surprisingly in really good health. She was slightly anemic from malnutrition and a whopping case of tapeworms, but she's been treated for those and is now gaining weight nicely. So, sweet, sweet, adorable Aggie is ready for a loving home. <br/><br/> Aggie is a 6-year-old, female, 72 lbs., Great Dane/Boxer mix. She's not yet spayed but will be once she's gained a few more pounds. She just needs someone who will love her, feed her several small meals a day and will provide some soft furniture to lie on. Could that be you?<br/><br/>Aggie is doggie door trained, seems to be fine with cats and other dogs. She rides well in vehicles. Aggie loves people, especially if they pet her beautiful head. She does well on leash but currently doesn't have the energy for long walks. She's going further and further each time we walk her and now has some real pep in her step. She also, likes to stop often so you can pet her head or give her treats. She loves treats and takes them very gently. *Please note the accompanying video was taken a few days after she arrived at the shelter, she's gained weight since then.<br/><br/>Aggie is up to date on all her vaccines, is heartworm negative, and on preventatives for fleas/ticks/heartworms and other intestinal parasites. She is very much loved at the Hico Animal Control shelter, but it's time for her to have a <br/>family who will love and care for her as much, or more, than we do.
