Pets Are Worth Saving (PAWS)
Our Mission
P.A.W.S. is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming the abandoned and unwanted animals of Erath County, assisting local animal shelters, educating the public on the importance of responsible pet ownership, and making affordable spay and neuter a possibility for all residents.
Education: P.A.W.S. consistently works to educate the public on the importance of spaying or neutering their pets and keeping up with their pets’ vaccinations. By utilizing reliable, local resources, P.A.W.S. hopes to make affordable pet care available to everyone in Erath County and the surrounding areas.
Shelter Support: P.A.W.S. works to support local animal shelters by collecting supplies, rescuing animals at risk of euthanasia, and providing another platform to advertise their adoptable animals.
Fundraising: P.A.W.S. works with other animal rescue organizations and the local community to create unique events to promote adoptable animals and raise funds. In 2023, P.A.W.S. and CAPA, a rescue organization out of Comanche County, successfully organized the first annual Pickin’ for Pups, a fundraising event at a local saloon featuring a silent auction, a raffle, a food truck, and live music.
Animal Welfare: P.A.W.S. takes in unwanted or abandoned animals and places them in foster homes where they receive any care they may need. P.A.W.S. provides its volunteers with food and supplies for the animals in foster care.Â
Adoptions: P.A.W.S. brings the animal to the home of the potential adopter to ensure a safe environment. Each animal goes to their home fully vetted and sterilized, or with a plan to finish the vetting process.Â
Spay and Neuter Sponsor Program: P.A.W.S. plans to work with local businesses to raise funds for sponsored spay and neuter days. The ultimate goal is to establish a low cost spay and neuter program in the Erath county area.
