My Nana gave me my first pet ever for my 6th birthday, a guinea pig, named Harry. I've been hooked on the little, furry fuzzballs ever since. When I hit my senior year of college and moved into a pet-friendly apartment, I knew there must be a guinea pig out there calling my name. Instead of looking at the local pet stores, I decided to begin my search on petfinder.com. Much to my surprise, there were quite a few guinea pigs up for adoption in the Manhattan area. I picked my two favorite from the website and decided to pick between them upon meeting them at the shelter. When I got to the shelter and walked into the back room, I knew immediately the Lily was the guinea pig for me! She is one of the prettiest pigs I have ever seen, and she has the most personality out of any guinea pig I've ever known. I was so excited to take her home! I don't know much on Lily's history, only that she has had 2 litters of little guinea piglets. I wasn't surprised that she took her sweet time getting adjusted to her new home. 6 months later Lily is living large! She is full of personality and spunk. She is not afraid to wake me up in the morning with her loud "eeking" letting me know that she is ready for her morning carrot. When I get home from studying late at night, she gets all excited and runs laps around her cage until I take her out and hold her. She's also a very ticklish guinea pig and "laughs" when you tickle her hips. She is very interactive and affectionate. She's even a little adventurous. She met my horse on our way home for winter break and spent winter break chasing the dog off his dog bed while running around in the kitchen! I love my silly Lily, adopting her was one of the best decisions I've made in college!
