Jett and Jasper - posted 02/20/2012

From Therese of Boise, ID

Jett and Jasper were both found on Jett is from OR, and Jasper is from WA. husband claimed I was crazy driving 10 hrs. round trip to adopt Jett then 12 hrs. round trip to adopt Jasper. But after viewing their photos on, I had to go get was LOVE at first site. Both are dachshund mix dogs but Jett is a ....wait for it...Border collie dachshund mix (I'm sure that was an interesting night) and Jasper a Chihuahua dachshund mix, yet they look like father son. Both LOVE each other and play and snuggle constantly. Jasper was dumped at a camp site with his mother and 5 brothers and sisters. The mother kept them from being attacked by coyotes or being hit by cars for 2 weeks. AMAZING!! She taught them to go up to campers one by one for food while she hid the others out of site. She was one amazing mom. Jett's mom was taken to a shelter while she was pregnant, so his start to life was much less stressful than Jasper's. They are both very snuggly. Jasper had trust issues at first. He now comes to you when called and is a huge lover. Both were living at shelter's foster families and both were the last of their litters to be adopted. I guess the saying "They save the BEST for last" was true in our case. It is amazing when these little guys go through what they do, that they become such LOVING members of your family! They are as loved as my 3 children and some days easier to deal with! HAHAHAHAHA I have had purebred dachshunds all my life, and I will have to say these 2 babies are by far easier going and have bigger personalities than my purebreds ever had. I will never buy a new dog from a breeder again. Rescue dogs seem to know they are blessed and show their appreciation for that fact. I worked at a shelter when I lived in CA, and ever since I volunteered there I fell in love with rescue dogs. I tell all our friends adopt, adopt, adopt! The site is a WONDERFUL site you get to see pictures and video of pets you are interested in and you have access to real people to talk to about the pets. My experience with has been a great one.
