Angus - A Petfinder Happy Tail

Angus - posted 09/25/2008

From Sara of Sparks, NV

We lost our dog Indy in July 2007 to a very aggressive cancer . She was about ten years old and was my boyfriend first dog on his own so she was his special little girl. It was very devastating to watch her health decline so quickly within a week of being diagnosed and know there was nothing we could do for her, so we made the decision to let her go peacefully. Our two other girls Delia (husky x) and Babs (pug) did not know what to do when we came home without her from the vet. A week or so went by of picking at their food and walking around looking for her. It actually got to the point where Delia would not sleep on her bed at night and had to sleep in bed with us, which became kind of cramped. That lasted for about a month.

We decided after a few months we were ready for another dog for us and our girls, and not just any dog it was going to have to be a special dog. Don't get me wrong I would take them all if it was up to me, but I have this voice in the background saying "we have enough babies" his name is Brayden. So I would be on Petfinder every night for about a month it came down to two dogs that I had found a husky and Angus (Great Pyrenees). After a couple of phone calls and a home visit. We went and met Pam with Sierra Pacific Great Pyrenees Club Rescue and met Angus. We introduced him to our girls and Babs the almighty brave pug was afraid at first when this enormous horse came at her and licked her face. Delia and he did the whole butt dance and jump back and fourth. He came up to me and hugged my leg with his front paw to get me to pet him and butted Brayden with his nose and rubbed his head on his leg. We knew after the first few minutes of meeting him he was the new member to our family. We found out that he was pulled from a kill shelter by Sierra Pacific Great Pyrenees Club Rescue because his days were up. I could not have imagined a great dog like this getting put to sleep it just goes to show their are so many more out there. If it were not for Petfinder and Sierra Pacific Great Pyrenees Club Rescue our family would not be complete. I think it is fabulous that this resource is available for rescues to find homes for their special babies and to give animals another chance at life.

It is a year later and every time we come home from work we are serenaded with song, hugs and kisses from all our special babies. We could not imagine how life would be without our goofy boy Angus in it. And every time Angus goes somewhere we have nothing but compliments of how beautiful he is and how nice he is. And I tell everybody I found him on and he is from Sierra Pacific Great Pyrenees Club Rescue and that he was to be euthanized if not for SPGPC saving his life.

So thank you and Sierra Pacific Great Pyrenees Club Rescue for givinig us another special baby in our life.

Thank You,

Sara, Brayden, Delia, Babs & Angus
