Meet Maru
Estimated birth date: 4/7/21
Personality: Inquisitive, Friendly toward humans, Playful, Energetic, Sweet
Favorite treats: Both girls absolutely go crazy for whatever you offer them, but they do particularly enjoy sunflower seeds.
Favorite toys and activities: The girls love running on their wheel, digging tunnels throughout their habitat, munching on snacks, and snuggling up together in their box!
Potty trained: No
This animal daily routine: They are most active in the early morning but will wake up for attention or treats whenever someone is home or in the room with them. They usually sleep during the day while their foster is gone and wake up in the evening. Even though they wake up in the evening and are usually awake for
BFF (Does this animal have or need a same species friend in their home?): Yes! Maru is bonded to her sister Penny!
Other species this pet has been exposed to and reaction: They’ve seen their foster’s large and small dog through the cage and don’t really mind.
Has this animal been exposed to children? What was their reaction? There is a 10 year old girl in the house who regularly interacts with and gives the mice treats, both mice adore her.

Other notes: Maru and Penny and super social and come out of hiding every time they hear someone enter the room. They will both stare at you with their cute little noses twitching until you give them attention and treats!
Maru & Penny came to MNPPR when their previous owner was unable to provide care for an unexpected litter after they were weaned.
Due to our rescue being foster-based, not all foster homes are located in Saint Paul, MN. Maru’s foster parent prefers to meet at the Eagan PetSmart - 1297 Promenade Pl, Eagan, MN 55121 for meet & greets, & adoptions.

Fee: Maru & Penny have a combined adoption fee of $8
Due to health and safety concerns, we are now pursuing adoptions with additional safety measures in place. We will be asking potential adopters to discuss their individual preferences and comfort levels involving safety precautions during the greeting/adoption day step. We are HIGHLY suggesting all participants wear facial coverings, stay at least six feet apart, & use sanitization of all surfaces, and hands before and after contact.
We absolutely DO NOT SHIP ANIMALS! Please do not ask.
