Meet Darling

Estimated birth date: 1/31/21

Personality: Inquisitive, Friendly toward humans, Friendly toward other animals, Mouthy (puts mouth on you but does not bite down, usually thinking your fingers are food), Enjoys being held, Sweet, Loves to hang out on your shoulder

Favorite treats: Freeze dried minnows, peas and carrots, yogurt bites

Favorite toys and activities: Tunnels, snuggle sacks, willow balls

Potty trained: We're working on it!

This animal daily routine: Usually comes out for play time between 12-2 but sometimes in the evenings.

BFF (Does this animal have or need a same species friend in their home?): Yes! Darling is bonded to Precious.

Other species this pet has been exposed to and reaction: Dogs - seems interested and calm as long as the dogs are calm

Has this animal been exposed to children? What was their reaction? Darling’s Foster’s 7 year old nephew came to see the rats and they were fine with him. He was a bit too nervous to hold them, but they were fine near him.

Health concerns: None

Behavioral concerns: Darling is so confident now! She still prefers being handled in the snuggle sack, but she isn’t afraid to be picked up, and she loves running up and down her foster’s arms and shoulders while at the computer.

Other notes: Darling is the more confident of the 2 girls when it comes to being handled, and she LOVES taking treats, and running around your shoulders once she's comfortable with you! Her favorite treat is freeze dried minnows, but she rarely turns food down. Darling loves to burrow and snuggle under layers of fleece or in igloos and hides with extra bedding inside.

They definitely love having each other, and Precious is certainly braver with humans handling her when her adopted sister Darling is around. They run all over our computer desk, eat treats, and take naps together while foster mom works and plays on the computer. Neither one care too much for the play pen, but they do like their play tunnel that they get to play in, and if left to run free in the room, they will run all over everywhere and check everything out!

Darling came to MNPPR when her owner was unable to continue care. Precious came to MNPPR when her owner was unable to provide a cage mate for her.

Due to our rescue being foster-based, not all foster homes are located in Saint Paul, MN. Darling’s foster parent prefers to meet at the Chuck & Don's Pet Food & Supplies - 893 Village Center Dr, North Oaks, MN 55127 for meet & greets, & adoptions.

Our adoption process can be found on our website here: https://www.mnpocketpetrescue.org/process

We are HIGHLY suggesting all participants wear facial coverings, stay at least six feet apart, & use sanitization of all surfaces, and hands before and after contact.
