Estimated birth date: 2/5/22

Personality: Very shy (you are unable to touch this animal without it running away or being fearful, etc), Energetic, Nervous, Mouthy (puts mouth on you but does not bite down, usually thinking your fingers are food)

Favorite treats: Dandelion & Rosehip whoops. Timothy hay chews (compressed hay)

Favorite toys and activities: Anything wood. Likes to run around during floor time & on his wheel.

Potty trained: No

This animal’s daily routine: He likes to sleep most of the day and at night, runs on his wheel (wouldn’t recommend putting his cage in your bedroom, unless you are ok getting interrupted sleep)

BFF (Does this animal have or need a friend of the same species in their home?): No, but needs a friend in an adoptive home.

Other species this pet has been exposed to and reaction: Dogs - sniffs through the cage but does show some fear.

Has this animal been exposed to children? What was their reaction? Yes, does not tolerate young kids well. He will run away.

Health concerns: Bub has a history of possible choking. We have done some diagnostic imagery and were unable to find the cause. Due to this, his pellet consumption should be monitored and broken into smaller pieces as needed.

Behavioral concerns: Yes, Bub is in our trust training program. Bub is shy but learning to come out of his shell. He has never bit but can be mouthy at times (more to see what you are). He is ok with you petting him on his head but we haven’t made it down to the back yet. He does not enjoy being held or picked up (we use his dust bath to carrier him in/out of his cage for floor time). He has started to climb on his foster mom during floor time. Other notes: Bub is a very sweet boy that loves to run on his wheel and chew on all his wood toys. He also loves to get crazy during floor time and explore all the new senses. Once he warms up, you will see him run and jump around (he jumped at a door handle; I think he was trying to make a break for it). He would make a great pet for a family that is willing to give him some time to warm up to them, and take things slow when it comes to petting/handling. Maybe with a friend, he will come out of his shell even more!

Bub came to MNPPR as a transfer from AHS due to behavioral concerns.

Due to our rescue being foster based, not all foster homes are located in Saint Paul, MN. Bub’s foster parent prefers to meet at the Maplewood Petsmart - 2370 White Bear Ave N, Maplewood, MN 55109 for meet & greets, & adoptions.
