Meet Benny
Benny is gentle and sweet, four-year-old, 3.28-pound (HUGE) tri-color, male American guinea pig looking for a loving guardian.
Benny might take the prize for the distance he traveled to join Friends of Petraits Rescue and for his size. But, he really wins for his gentle nature. Benny came all the way from Perry County Humane Society in Du Quoin, Illinois.
I’m not sure why Benny came into rescue, but his young owner wrote a dissertation on Benny’s likes and dislikes. He loves his Romaine lettuce and carrots, an apple slice, and celery cut into tiny pieces. He enjoys being pet on the head and having his chin rubbed.
Guinea pigs eat a diet of unlimited Timothy and Orchard hays; a handful of guinea pig pellets, and fresh vegetables that I’ll encourage Benny to try include red leaf and green leaf lettuces, cilantro, cucumbers, tomatoes, etc. Guinea pigs, just like humans, can’t manufacture their own vitamin C, so they need to supplement with a one-inch square of red bell pepper and many other vitamin C-rich foods.
Please read up on guinea pig care and diet before adopting by visiting this excellent web site http://www.guinealynx.info/
He would love a home with people who will handle him daily, keep him well fed, his nails trimmed, and keep his habitat nice and clean.
If you’re interested in possibly adopting Benny, please fill out an adoption application at https://friendsofpetraits.com/guinea-pig-adoption-application/ and follow up by e-mailing freindsofpetraits@gmail.com to make an appointment to meet him.
He is being fostered in Chicago’s Andersonville neighborhood.
His adoption fee of $60 benefits the Friends of Petraits Rescue. For an additional $75, we’ll include a package of absolutely everything you need to care for him including a cage, litter, pellets, hay, hidey hut and water bottle.
