Meet Mr. Sid

***Not available for adoption to NYC residents***

Mr. Sid is a young ball python who was rescued after being abandoned in a bare, dirty tank on a NYC sidewalk. Mr. Sid is lucky that the weather wasn't very cold at the time and that a kind person found him in time and called us for help. Mr. Sid was examined by our vet who found him to be in good health except that he had retained some skin from his last shed, possibly indicating that he hadn't been properly maintained. These snakes are generally docile but they do require specialized care, including appropriate temperature and humidity to maintain optimal health. We ask that anyone interested in adopting a reptile or amphibian do their research to ensure that they are properly prepared and able to care for one of these magnificent creatures.

Ball pythons have this name because when nervous, they curl into a ball. Mr. Sid was understandably nervous after all he’s been through, but he immediately began to relax in his foster home. He is eating and doing well, and he is ready for his new life to begin with a responsible and caring guardian. Mr. Sid was estimated by the vet to be under 1 year of age and he currently measures approximately 1.5 feet.
