Meet Neeli

Due to health and safety concerns, we are now pursuing adoptions with additional safety measures in place. We will be asking potential adopters to discuss their individual preferences and comfort levels involving safety precautions during the greeting/adoption day step. We are HIGHLY suggesting all participants wear facial coverings, stay at least six feet apart, & use sanitization of all surfaces, and hands before and after contact.

Estimated birth date: 08/04/2020

Personality: Inquisitive, Friendly toward humans, Playful, Energetic, Sweet

Favorite treats: All the treats! Neeli loves almost everything we give her. For treats she has been getting Oxbow brand biscuits with apple. She also loves all fruits - especially berries (blueberries, strawberries) and tomatoes which we only give in small quantities. Neeli loves cherry tomatoes and strawberry tops!

Favorite toys and activities: Neeli's favorite toy is her treat ball. She also loves to play with her stainless steel water bowl!

Potty trained: Litter box trained

This animal daily routine: Neeli is fed 1/4 cup of pellets each morning and given some time outside of the x-pen to play in her room. She then goes back into the x-pen for the morning and early afternoon. Around 3pm she is let out of her x-pen again and gets about a cup of leafy green, sometimes treats, and lots of pets and play time. At dinner time she gets another 1-2 cups of leafy greens. Before bed we give her another 1/8 cup of pellets and she spends the night in her x-pen.

BFF (Does this animal have or need a same species friend in their home?): Not yet! Neeli will need a bunny buddy in her adoptive home!

Other species this pet has been exposed to and reaction: Dog. Nervous at first. Has warmed up to her, and tolerates her barks. She has tried to play a few times but neither knows how to execute it. Otherwise unimpressed and uninterested. Did not like female rabbit. Neeli "thumps" when she sees the cats in her foster’s home, but she has not been aggressive toward them at all. The cats are older and take no interest in Neeli, so they have mostly stayed apart and there have been no altercations of any kind. However, their presence does seem to make Neeli nervous. It is suggested to take introductions to a cat very slowly in a new home, especially if that cat was younger or more interested in investigating Neeli.

Has this animal been exposed to children? What was their reaction? Neeli is wonderful with children! We have two girls, ages 7 and 10 in her foster home. She is very gentle, eats right out of their hands, and hops up to them for pets and attention. She has also been visited by younger children and does very well. We always coach children to be respectful - no grabbing or trying to pick her up - and she does beautifully!

Health concerns: None

Behavioral concerns: She was previously in the Trust Training Program for cage guarding behaviors. Since being in a home without any other rabbits, she has not displayed any of these behaviors at all. Her foster can easily go in and out of her cage, change all of her bedding, food, litterbox, etc. and she just happily hops around with no issues. They have done a lot of hand feeding to build trust and she has been nothing but gentle and friendly!

Other notes: Bunny burrito works great for nail trims. One person holds the other dispenses constant treats and clips. She does great! She needs patience but warms up quickly. She is very clean in her kennel. She is a wonderful bunny. Loves to zoom around rooms so full of joy. She likes pets, even while eating. Loves head rubs and ear rubs. Loves to chew and is particular about her needs. In a very silly way. Will toss her bowl or throw toys to get her point across. Loves children.

Neeli was transferred to MNPPR due to behavior issues in a shelter setting.

Due to our rescue being foster-based, not all foster homes are located in Saint Paul, MN. Neeli’s foster parent prefers to meet at the Chuck and Don's in Highland Park 2114 Ford Pkwy, St Paul, MN 55116 for meet & greets, & adoptions.
