Our Mission

Furry Animals Being Saved Rescue, Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)(3) rescue based in Tolland, CT. FABS Rescue was founded by a dedicated woman with a life-long passion for rescue who is committed to the mission of saving the lives of homeless companion animals. After getting knocked down several times in the rescue community, she decided to create her own rescue so she could continue her mission to save the lives of homeless dogs and cats. FASB Rescue is a non-breed specific rescue with expertise on Chow Chows, which is very misunderstood breed.

FABS Rescue is a 100% foster-based rescue and is run entirely by compassionate individuals who volunteer their time, energy and resources to help save and care for the precious animals who come into the rescue. We rely on the generosity of volunteers and donors to provide medical care, training, and daily care to dogs and cats at risk of euthanasia. We are committed to helping one homeless shelter animal at a time with the goal of finding them loving, life-long adoptive homes.

Adoption Policy

There are 3 stages to the application process:
1. Reference checks. We verify your vet reference and your personal references; this takes 2 to 3 days. This stage will go faster if you inform your references (including landlord, when applicable) that we will be calling and to return our phone calls when we leave messages. If you rent your home, the Landlord Consent Form must be completed and returned to us.
2. Home visit. This process could take another 2 to 5 days, depending on proximity to a volunteer and/or volunteer availability. A home visit is required for final approval of an application.
3. Meet & greet. Required for dogs only and scheduled only after a home visit has been completed and an application has been approved. We will schedule a meet and greet with you and your family, including any dogs in your household. Meet & greets for cats/kittens are done at the request of the applicant and the availability/discretion of the foster.

If the meet and greet goes well with the animal you are adopting then we will arrange a date/time for you to pick up your new family member; depending on the circumstances, we may bring the animal to your home.

If you have any questions on our process, please reach out to us so we can answer any questions you may have.

Thank you for wanting to give a shelter animal a loving home.
