Callies Canine Rescue
Our Mission
We are a foster-based rescue located in Southern California. Our goal is to save stray dogs and red-listed dogs in the overpopulated California Shelter system. We like to take the overlooked dogs, whether they have major medical conditions, need decompression/ socialization, or are seniors. We want to educate as many people as we can that rescue dogs are the greatest companions you could ever have. To help spread awareness of the crisis in the overcrowded shelter system and to help encourage everyone to spay and neuter. This is not a numbers game for turning over adoptions for us, we are here to find the best home for every rescue so that they have a long, happy, healthy life. So much of what we do is being a matchmaker. But I thrive when it comes to helping guide a foster or adopter as their dog acclimates, decompresses, and settles into their forever home. We are there to walk the new family through every step, and we are there for the rest of the dog's life, no matter what they may need. We truly feel blessed to be a part of these sentient beings' stories.
Adoption Policy
The major steps are the adoption application, the interview(s), the home check, ID and social media verification, the meet and greet, the adoption fee, the transfer of ownership along with medical records, and planning the best day to bring your new family member home. We always recommend it be earlier in the day when the home will be calm for a few days. And we are there to guide the family through every step of the decompression and settling-in phase.
