Remy Horse Thoroughbred Elkhart Lake, WI

Renaissance Man, a/k/a "Remy," is a 13-year-old, 17HH Thoroughbred. Remy was/is loved deeply by his previous owner. She went to incredible lengths to keep Remy comfortable, useful, and safe. Now entering college, she realizes that as her work load increases, she will not be able to give him the time he needs, and does not want his soundness to slip as a result.

Since arriving at AGES, Chelsea has been working him a minimum of 3 times a week and reports that he has been doing well! Remy is accustomed to being worked under saddle and knows his job. For several years, he has been maintained with a specific routine and collection of exercises that have kept him sound for riding. As it is clear that Remy was very used to his routine and trusted his owner implicitly, and her him, it will be important for his adopter to understand that Remy needs to form a strong trust/bond with his new person to perform his best. Remy does have a lot of energy and can be reactive/excitable during ground work in new areas, but has improved since arriving some weeks ago. Remy has been consistent (and a gentleman) under saddle and would be best suited for an advanced rider, that has a true understanding of working the horse using seat/leg. With a rider that understands true and correct engagement of the hindquarters/top line, Remy will be able to stay sound for riding.

Since he is a big guy and needs the ability to stretch out, he will need to be kept at a facility that has large spaces both for turnout and work. Remy would be well suited for low level dressage and trails. This sweet boy does require an adopter that is committed to getting him out and moving at least 3 times a week. Currently he has been doing best when in our indoor arena, as he is still getting used to the excitement of his new surroundings! Remy has also fallen madly in love with his paddock mate Terry, and we believe he would do best turned out with only one, possibly two, other geldings.

Remy is available for adoption to an approved applicant. His adoption fee is $1200. Along with this sweet boy, his adopter will receive his custom-fit dressage saddle, bridle, and blankets! :)
