Zeus 's Story

FOSTERED IN ROBERTSDALE, ALABAMA

*Fence required*

Meet Zeus…

At just 5.5 months old, this Great Dane puppy is already embracing his destiny as a full-sized lap dog. Personal space? Zeus has never heard of it. If you sit down, congratulations, you now have a rapidly growing weighted blanket who believes your sole purpose in life is to provide snuggles.

The good news? He’s basically perfect.

Zeus is a total gentleman. He doesn’t jump on people, already knows how to sit like a polite young man, and walks beautifully on a leash. He’s the kind of pup who makes you look like you actually know what you’re doing in public. Car rides? Easy. He hops in like he’s been road-tripping his whole life and settles in for the journey.

At home, Zeus is… expressive. He’s got a lot to say and isn’t afraid to say it. Whether it’s a little whine, a dramatic sigh, or full-on “conversation mode,” Zeus will keep you entertained with his ongoing commentary about life, snacks, and why you stopped petting him for three whole seconds.

Zeus’ start in life has been a bit of a whirlwind. After being bounced around as a young puppy, he eventually landed with a well-intentioned family who quickly realized they didn’t have the time, resources, or experience needed to properly care for a Great Dane puppy. Wanting the best for him, they made the difficult but responsible decision to reach out to rescue. Their goal was simple: to make sure Zeus was safe and given the opportunity to find the right home he truly deserves.

He now lives in a foster home with a married couple, three Aussiedoodles, and two cats, and he has proven himself to be the perfect gentleman. He fits in beautifully with the pack, is respectful of the cats, and handles it all with an easygoing charm that’s pretty rare for a puppy. When the grandkids come over, Zeus is wonderful with them too, showing a gentle and patient side that makes everyone fall in love.

He even figured out the doggy door almost immediately, because apparently he’s brains and beauty. For a 6-month-old Dane, he’s surprisingly respectful, taking cues from the other dogs and just wanting to be a good boy.

He’s incredibly sweet and submissive, getting along beautifully with other dogs and happily taking a “you go first” approach to life. Cats? He’s curious but respectful, more “hi friend” than “must chase immediately.”

Zeus also came from a breeder in Louisiana who cropped his ears as a baby… and to be honest, it’s one of the worst crop jobs we’ve ever seen. The good news is it doesn’t hurt him at all now. The reality is he just doesn’t have much in the way of ears, but Zeus doesn’t care one bit, and it certainly doesn’t take away from how incredibly lovable he is.

Zeus is the total package: goofy, affectionate, well-mannered, and just the right amount of dramatic. He’s looking for someone who understands that Great Dane puppies are a commitment, not a phase, and who’s ready for a best friend that loves big, leans hard, and believes closeness is a lifestyle, not a suggestion.

If you’ve been searching for a loyal, loving companion who will quite literally stick by your side (and possibly on top of you), Zeus is ready to take his rightful place in your home… and your lap.

Zeus is neutered, fully vaccinated and microchipped. His adoption fee is $400. To read over the adoption requirements before applying to adopt Zeus, please go to www.nwflgdr.com/adopt.

Please note: NWFLGDR does not transport. All approved adopters must pick up the dog in person from the foster parent's home.

Our Great Danes require a sturdy fenced in yard, particularly young or active danes. Generally, a six-foot or higher privacy fencing is preferred. In certain circumstances, the Board may waive this requirement depending upon the Dane's personality and temperament. Any such exceptions will solely be at the discretion of the Rescue Board. Under no circumstances will we consider invisible or electric fencing as acceptable. 6. We only adopt Dogs as indoor pets. We will not adopt Dogs to be used as guard dogs or to be kept out-of-doors. 7. A home visit is required for ALL adoptions, without exception. This is not a white-glove inspection, rather it is to ensure that the home is a safe environment for the Great Dane. 8. We do not transport. If you are applying from out of area or out of state, understand that if your application gets approved, you will be expected to pick up the dane in the location that he/she is being fostered.
