He came to us in rough shape—so matted he had to be shaved—which is why you’ll often see him sporting a stylish sweater to stay cozy!<br/><br/>While he looks like a cuddly stuffed animal, Yam is a high-octane athlete in a small package. He has been returned twice through no fault of his own; he simply needs an adopter who is more observant and active than the average pet parent.<br/><br/>The "Yam" Requirements:<br/>Escape Artist Extraordinaire: Yam can clear a 4ft fence with ease and will climb chain link like a ladder. A 5ft solid fence is required, or a commitment to 100% leashed outdoor time.<br/><br/>High Prey Drive: Squirrels are his obsession. Because of this, he is a strict "No Cats" dog. * The "Zoomie" Factor: Yam is known to run and jump when you least expect it. He needs an owner who is physically steady and always paying attention.<br/><br/>Adult-Only/Mature Home: Due to his "bolting" risk, we require no children under 10. We need a home where the door is strictly guarded so Yam stays safe inside.<br/><br/>Canine Friends: He gets along with calm, small dogs who respect his personal space.<br/><br/>The Reward:<br/>Once Yam feels secure and knows you are the leader of the pack, he transforms. He is highly responsive to commands once a bond is formed, and his absolute favorite hobby (besides squirrel-watching) is snuggling on your lap to watch TV.
