Willow 4.0's Story

Hi everyone! My name is Willow, and I am a sweet, active, and deeply affectionate one-year-old girl who is ready to shower my future family with an endless supply of love, hugs, and kisses! I have an exceptionally gentle and friendly temperament, and my absolute favorite place to be is right by your side. I am a true velcro girl who loves attention fiercely and is never found far from my foster parent's hip. While my foster is busy working during the day, you can always find me curled up quietly right at their feet, and when the evening rolls around, I am the first one to hop onto the couch to sit flush against you for some well-deserved pets and bone-chewing time.

My foster family says I live by the absolute best daily routine! My perfect days are filled with plenty of fun outdoor play, delicious breakfast and dinner times, and plenty of dedicated play and rest blocks. My absolute favorite part of the entire day is heading out for at least a couple of big walks where I can stretch my legs, explore new scents, and burn off some energy! I am a very proud girl because I am already completely, 100% house trained! I am currently working hard on my daily crate training and perfecting my indoor manners. I am still learning the difference between my actual toys and regular household items, and I am practicing keeping my paws down instead of counter surfing when I get curious. I also experience some separation anxiety when my people leave, but I am working incredibly hard to build up my confidence and improve every single day. Because I am a sensitive soul, I will look directly to my humans for reassurance whenever I feel unsure.

I am completely dog and cat approved! I absolutely adore other dogs and love to dive headfirst into active playtime with them. Having a playful furry brother or sister in my forever home would be wonderful to help me run around, though I would also do beautifully as your one-and-only spoiled princess. I also do great around cats, though I am still actively learning exactly what a cat is! When it comes to human companions, I would do best with older children (8+). Younger kids can frighten my sensitive soul a bit if they approach me too quickly or get too loud, so a calm, understanding environment is best for me.

Because I am an active young dog who needs a positive outlet to let my energy out, an apartment or condo setting is not suitable for me right now. If I don't have a way to burn off my daily energy, I can become a little bit destructive, so I will thrive best with an active family or a home with another playful dog. I am looking for a patient, dedicated family that will continue my training, reassure me when I'm nervous, and give me a safe yard to run in. In return, I promise to be your most devoted best friend and personal couch cuddler.

It Takes A Village Dog Rescue's Adoption Policy
Hopeful adopters must fill out an adoption application. All applications are screened and potential matches are contacted. Follow up questions are emailed. A phone call is set up to clarify any questions about the adoption process. At that point the fosters are provided the contact information for the potential adopters. They set up a meet and greet at the fosters home. During the meet the foster will tell the potential adopter the good, the bad. and the ugly about the dog... we want total transparency in order to have an open and successful adoption. After the meet we ask the fosters and the adopters their thoughts. If the adopter would like to proceed, their references are checked and a virtual home visit is conducted. If the adoptable dog has any sort of behavioural or medical issues a plan to address the issue would be required before adoption could proceed. If all is good then the adoption contract is sent out to be signed and returned along with the adoption fee. The foster is given the green light to arrange pick up.
