Whiskey Sour's Story
-Written by Whiskey Sour, a 6-week-old, 6lb male Aussie mix.
---------------------------------------------

You can let your past define you or you can let it make you stronger for your future. I didn't have a loving family prior to coming to the rescue. My past consists of being tossed in a box along with my 9 siblings, watching my owner tape that box up, and then dumping us at the dumpster and leaving us there. It was so dark. It was so hot. I was so hungry. My siblings were so hungry. We ended up nursing on any extension we could find on one another. I don't know how long we were in that box but I know we cried a lot. We cried out because we were overheating. We cried out because we were hungry. We cried out for our mom. We cried out for someone...for anyone to help us. Finally, someone did find us and we ended up at the animal shelter. That wasn't exactly where we had wanted to end up due to all the diseases we would now be exposed to. At least we were finally out of that horrid box though.

The shelter ended up reaching out for rescue help and thankfully the next day we were on our freedom ride. A foster family had stepped up with this rescue and off we went! I was pretty nervous when I entered my foster home. I did not really move around and was so scared. I had no idea what to expect. However, as soon as my foster put a tray of food out I perked up and went crazy for it! After that, I had the best nap of my life! While I was now safe, I still had some pretty gnarly-looking furless patches on me. My foster mom ended up taking us to the vet and the vets said it was from us nursing on one another so hard we caused some pretty severe tissue damage. Their concern was that our skin would turn necrotic(meaning it dies) in which case we would need to amputate. Thankfully, thanks to the meds the vet gave us and my foster mom always rubbing some healthy oils/vitamins it looks like that won't be necessary! The only thing I don't know is if the hair will grow back on those spots or not.

I am your typical playful and sleepy pup. I will play hard and then nap the day away. I do enjoy cuddling but only for a little. Then, I want to get back to playing with my siblings or with toys. I LOVE food and will climb into the food bowl to get after it. I will be on the more active side as an adult so will need a doggie playmate, someone who goes on walks or hiking, and someone who is home a lot to give me lots of attention and exercise.

I have already been through quite the ordeal at such a young age. I don't ever want to have to go through being abandoned again. I need a family that can give me forever. If you cannot see me in your life for the next 10 years, please step aside so someone that is able to commit to me for that long can adopt me. I deserve only the very best and I plan to find it! I am a FOREVER dog, not an until dog. If I sound like the boy for you, please apply to adopt me at
https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app

Once this app comes in, it will be sent on to my foster family. This is to help ensure that not only am I a good fit for you but that you are also a good fit for me! ?

I am currently residing in Sand Springs, OK. If you have fallen in love with me and are out of state, how about a road trip? I won't go on a long transport, so the only way I am relocating to another state...is if we are in that car together ?

Now I know that you may have fallen in love with me, but I am not quite ready to go home yet. I won't be ready to go home with you until around the end of August. I hope that you will still apply to adopt me though, that way after my final vetting with this rescue I will already have a family waiting! ?

My adoption fee is $300.
That will include two sets of puppy shots and wormings. I will also have had a bordetella. I will be micro-chipped, have a fecal done, be de-wormed, be spayed/neutered, and will be current on heart-worm and flea/tick prevention.

EPILOGUE
-Below is an excerpt from Whiskey Sour's foster family.

"Whiskey Sour is another heartthrob. He too can melt you with his eyes. I think they look kinda blue but that's just my opinion. He's playful but not overly active. Explores with the others while outside. Loves toys but is not crazy about baths. Loves mealtimes, play times, and naps."
