Waldo's Story

Hi, I'm Waldo, a 6 year old, 25 pound mixed breed guy. My DNA says that I am Chihuahua, long haired Dachshund, Pomeranian and Shih Tzu, though my appearance says Miniature Australian Shepherd.. I know for sure that I am a really good dog, that I am told.

I am fostered in Linn County, OR, We are about 1 hour from Sisters, Eugene, Salem, Corvallis. About 2 hours from Portland and Newport. We are willing to meet partway for those coming from a distance.

I am a great companion dog, and an easygoing guy. I am house trained, like car rides, I walk well on leash. I get along well with other dogs. I will go on an off leash walk and do some zoomies then return to my people.

I enjoy affection and also enjoy doing my own thing outside sometimes. By day I enjoy sitting or hanging out outside part time, or snoozing indoors. By eve I love to lie with a person in a chair or on the couch, or in a dog bed. I have zero bad habits.

Despite my floofy hair/fur, I do not shed noticeably, and my hair does not seem to grow.

Waldo has come nose to nose with a cat without any issue. We think he would tolerate cats that are nice, well.

He has no child experience, Given his good nature, older children with great dog manners are very likely a good match.

Waldo will do well with folks who will take him out, and include him on family outings. He would love a setting where he can hang out outdoors. He is zero percent demanding and 100% endearing.

Waldo was overcrated in his last home, so we seek a no crate home for him. He currently sleeps on a human's bed, but would be happy in a dog bed in his human's room too.

A great home and must haves for Waldo include:

1. An owned or stable renter house with a securely fenced yard. Acreage would also work well; he won't go far.

2. Adopters that have time to spend with their pup. Waldo has spent long hours alone in his past, and we want a future with company for him.

3. Folks who believe in good nutrition and care for their pets.

4. People who will take Waldo on walks and include him in their fun activities and as a family member.

If you meet all above criteria, don't miss out on lovely boy. To inquire, please email: awoofovermyhead@gmail.com. Include "waldo' in the subject line. Please tell us a bit about yourself and how Waldo would fit into your life. Leave a phone number where you can be reached.

To apply, complete the following application. A Woof Over My Head's Adoption Policy
Interested folks email us, telling us a bit about yourself and how the dog will fit into your life. Ideally, please leave a phone number and email. We will get in touch with you, either to chat first, or to send an application. If your application looks great, we'll check in, and your references are called. If it seems a great match, a meet is arranged, usually at potential adopters home/yard to allow for home inspection (home inspection via video of public areas of your home during Covid-19). Adoptions that are a match often, but not always, happen at the meet: the adoption contract is discussed, signed and the adoption donation is paid. You will receive records via email and usually, a set of "operating instructions" specific to the dog you have adopted. Each dog is sent off with a harness or martingale collar and enough food to get started. You supply an ID tag with one or two phone numbers, and a non-retractable leash. We check in several times after adoption, and we are always available for questions or updates and photos!
