A Woof Over My Head
Our Mission
We accept local dogs in need into our foster based tiny rescue, focusing primarily on local owner surrenders that we feel are at highest risk. All dogs in our program are rehabilitated for any issues such as timidity, fearfulness, body sensitivities, and lack of socialization.
They are helped to become excellent family members, to walk nicely on leash, have nice house manners, and are become well socialized. All dogs are brought up-to-date on vaccinations, dental needs, rabies, spay or neuter, and are micro-chipped.
Once they are at their best and most confident, we seek the best match in a forever home for each dog.
Adoption Policy
Interested folks email us, telling us a bit about yourself and how the dog will fit into your life. Ideally, please leave a phone number and email. We will get in touch with you, either to chat first, or to send an application. If your application looks great, we'll check in, and your references are called. If it seems a great match, a meet is arranged, usually at potential adopters home/yard to allow for home inspection (home inspection via video of public areas of your home during Covid-19).
Adoptions that are a match often, but not always, happen at the meet: the adoption contract is discussed, signed and the adoption donation is paid. You will receive records via email and usually, a set of "operating instructions" specific to the dog you have adopted. Each dog is sent off with a harness or martingale collar and enough food to get started. You supply an ID tag with one or two phone numbers, and a non-retractable leash.
We check in several times after adoption, and we are always available for questions or updates and photos!
