HELLO UNIVERSE! My name is Truffles, and I am a 9-year-old, 7.2-pound Shih Tzu who is ready to go home with you!<br/><br/>I’m a sweet senior guy who was surrendered to Faithful Friends through no fault of my own. My owner experienced some life changes and could no longer care for me. When I arrived at the sanctuary, I had a double ear infection and some seriously stinky teeth! The staff got me feeling much better with medication, my neuter, vaccinations, and a dental procedure where I said goodbye to 7 teeth. Now I’m feeling like a brand-new man!<br/><br/>I’m super loving, gentle, and sweet, but I also have a silly, playful side that comes out when I’m feeling spunky. I walk well on a leash, ride nicely in the car, and love playing with little stuffies. But do you know what I love most? PEOPLE!<br/><br/>Because I really enjoy my humans, I need a home where someone is around for most of the day. I can get stressed when I’m left without human companionship for too long, so I’m looking for someone who wants a little shadow by their side. I'm super portable and love to be held, so I can definitely accompany you on errands like your own personal assistant.<br/><br/>I get along with other chill dogs, but I’m not especially playful with them, so I wouldn’t be the best choice if you’re looking for a primary playmate for your dog. As for cats? I’m pretty ambivalent about them; they’re just kind of... there. <br/><br/>And kids? YES, PLEASE! I came from a home with children and absolutely loved them. If you have kiddos or grandchildren in your life, I’d be in HEAVEN!<br/><br/>I do have one little quirk that my future family should know about: since I spent most of my life intact, I like to mark my space. But don’t worry, we’ve found a solution that works wonderfully! I wear a belly band during the day at the sanctuary, and I don’t mind it at all. It has been very successful at keeping my area clean and pee-free.<br/><br/>I’m looking for a tenured dog owner who understands that senior pups may come with a few quirks and is ready to give me all the love, patience, and companionship I deserve.<br/><br/>If you’re looking for a tiny, sweet, silly little gentleman who would love nothing more than to spend his days by your side, I just might be your guy!<br/><br/>I am up-to-date on vaccines, neutered, dewormed, microchipped, and heartworm negative.<br/><br/>IMPORTANT<br/>The cost to adopt is $250, and the adoption process begins with an Adoption Application that is located at: www.faithfulfriendsnc.org/adopt<br/><br/>Once your completed application has been reviewed, the humans will contact you with questions and/or set an appointment for you to meet me.
