Travis -- URGENT - NEEDS FOREVER HOME OR RESCUE ASAP's Story

Travis, a handsome 1-year-old neutered male Doberman Pinscher/Labrador Retriever mix, was at Kern County Animal Services in Bakersfield, CA, for nearly three months! He only stayed alive that long because he was a staff and volunteer favorite.

The shelter planned to euthanize Travis on May 28, 2026. At the last minute, a CAPS volunteer in Burbank, CA, agreed to take him but only for a very short time because of her husband's medical condition. We desperately need a forever home or rescue for this calm, friendly dog who loves people and other dogs. He is a great addition for a family!

CAPS' video content creator, shelter staff and volunteers, and the temporary foster describe Travis as:

Playful
Calm and patient
Loves people and other dogs
Enjoys car rides
Leash trained
Friendly and polite
Well-behaved in public

ABOUT
Companion Animal Protection Services (CAPS), a national nonprofit based in Thousand Oaks, CA., is partnering with Kern County Animal Services in Bakersfield to find homes for at-risk dogs.
