Travis has been diagnosed with a treatable upper-respiratory illness and needs a safe home to recover ASAP!<br/><br/>Travis is a 1-year-old Doberman Pinscher mix currently being held at the Kern County Animal Services - Bakersfield Shelter. Travis has been at the shelter since March 3, 2026. The shelter has more than 300 dogs and puppies in two metal warehouses with no outdoor runs. Dogs over five months old are at high risk for euthanasia because of lack of space and too many abandoned dogs in the community. <br/><br/>Please contact CAPS if you are interested in adopting, rescuing or fostering, and we will make sure the shelter contacts you. They do not answer phones or respond often to voice messages due to understaffing. <br/><br/>PLEASE NOTE: Foster homes must be in Kern County. The dogs are in Bakersfield, not Thousand Oaks.
