Tinsel Labrador Retriever & Chocolate Labrador Retriever Mix Newport, RI

Tinsel is a love! He adores his person and everyone he meets. He wags and leans in for pets. He is such a resilient boy despite being blind. I have learned that non tipping water bowls and food bowls help him. He really uses his nose, sense of smell and high stepping prance to navigate.

Tinsel has just recently learned to play with toys and prances proudly with his favorite in his mouth. It seems tennis balls are his favorite and I can absolutely see him learning to fetch with his person.

Tinsel is house trained and crate trained. He gets along well with other dogs and cats. He is good with children. Tinsel does well on leash and does not pull. He has been a perfect patient at the vet and does so well.

Tinsel is around 5 years old and weighs about 70 pounds. Tinsel is a good boy who just wants love. He does well once he understands his new environment and guides very well by a collar or by following my steps and voice.

Tinsel loves a dog bed but his favorite place is to be beside you on the couch. I do not crate him. I do keep him in a room gated off with a dog bed when I leave and at night and he does super. He is a super sweet pleaser who will be such a gift to anyone who opens their heart to him, despite his blindness

Tinsel doesn’t jump and is well-behaved. He has only growled if startled out of a deep sleep by a pouncing puppy. Otherwise, he never makes a peep; although he cried once to go out to potty.

Tinsel is looking for home where he will be an adored family member and accepted despite his blindness. Respectful kids of any age will be great, he adored the 7 year old he met here. I think pouncing toddlers may scare him if he is asleep. No noises seem to scare him, he really is a very chill, good energy, happy pup.

He does have some allergy issues but is responding amazing to treatment the vet did. I also switched his protein source to lamb and that may be helping too.

He eats about 1.5 cups of Iams Lamb adult AM and PM. He loves all cookies, cheese and sometimes I add pumpkin to his food and he loves that too.
