Tilly's Story

TILLY

Female, spayed
~ 1-1/2 years old
American Bully
54 lbs.
Microchipped, up-to-date on core vaccines and takes monthly flea/tick/heartworm prevention
Good with kids; untested with cats or dogs

Tilly may be small in stature, but she has an enormous heart.

Unfortunately, Tilly arrived in foster care with a URI, so much of her time with us has been spent recovering and getting back to feeling her best. Even while under the weather, though, her sweet and loving nature has shined through in every possible way.

What strikes us most about Tilly is how affectionate and trusting she is. With her cropped ears and sturdy little barrel chest, someone clearly wanted her to look tough. The truth couldn't be further from reality. Beneath that exterior is a gentle, tender soul who simply wants to be loved.

Despite not feeling her best and having a somewhat reserved personality, Tilly has made it clear that being close to her people is her favorite place to be. She does her best to climb into our laps—though with those short little legs, we usually have to meet her on the floor instead! She loves giving kisses and seems happiest when she's curled up beside us, soaking up endless pets and cuddles before drifting off to sleep.

Before she got sick, we caught glimpses of her playful side. Roll a ball her way and she'll spring into action, moving much faster than you'd ever expect from such a petite pup. Watching her little bursts of enthusiasm is guaranteed to make you smile.

Tilly has also proven herself to be an exceptional patient. At her veterinary appointment, she wasn't nervous in the slightest. In fact, she lounged around as though she owned the place. Despite having painful ears that required cleaning and medication, she remained calm, cooperative, and trusting throughout the entire process.

One thing we've discovered is that Tilly seems to absolutely adore children. While we always encourage respectful interactions between kids and dogs, she has been wonderful with our eight-year-old daughter. In fact, whenever we need a little help convincing Tilly to do something, our daughter is the one we call in to lead the way.

While Tilly hasn't been introduced to the other dogs in our home yet, we suspect she would thrive with a canine companion. She gets excited when she sees other dogs on walks, arrived at the shelter housed with two dog friends, and we've heard they would whine when separated. Whether she joins a home with another friendly dog or becomes the center of attention herself, we think she has plenty of love to give.

Tilly also has one very important opinion: rain is highly overrated. Unfortunately for her, there may be nothing cuter than a short-stack dog in a raincoat.

Sweet, resilient, cuddly, and endlessly lovable, Tilly is ready to leave her days of neglect behind and find the family she deserves. If you're looking for a loyal companion who wants nothing more than to be by your side, Tilly may be your perfect match!

Interested in adopting?
