THOMAS IS IN A FOSTER HOME

6/10/2015: Thomas is a super sweet Shih Tzu with a wonderful personality. He’s very friendly. He is also house trained. Thomas is about 9 years old, and while he likes to nap a lot, he also is playful and likes squeaky toys and he enjoys going for walks. BE SURE TO WATCH HIS VIDEO to see him in action!

Thomas gets along with most other dogs, but he is not good with cats.. If you have a dog we'd ask you to bring your dog to meet Thomas to make sure they like each other.

Thomas was a stray. When he came to us his eyes were a mess. He has chronic dry eyes and he’s been to a specialist and with drops we’ve been able to greatly improve his eye condition and it is now very manageable. He needs eye medications twice a day and will continue to need them. He’s really good about being medicated. He'll need follow up visits to the eye specialist every few months. His eyesight is a bit limited but he gets around well. He has a bit more trouble seeing at night but does fine navigating once he gets acclimated to the environment.

Thomas would do best in a home without young kids. He doesn’t like to be crated, but he does fine left out in the home when alone and he stays out of trouble. He’s a talker and lets you know when he needs to go out. He’s also food motivated... and he’s a bit on the chubby side. But his foster mom has been walking him and he's lost a few pounds! He currently weighs 23 lbs and is working on losing a bit more. The one photo was taken after he'd been groomed and lost a little weight.

Thomas has been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and tested for heartworms. > Our goal is to send you home with a healthy pet and any information and support you may need to help your new pet adjust to his or her new home. All of our dogs & puppies have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, treated for fleas & ticks, tested for heartworms (7 mo. and over), and are on monthly heartworm preventative. Puppies who are too young to receive all the necessary puppy boosters and/or first rabies shot may be brought back to us for those vaccines at no extra charge. You will also receive a leash, collar, coupons for pet supplies and services, toys, and educational materials. And we'll give your dog a bath before he or she goes home!

> Please note that we prefer and may require a fenced yard for many of our dogs. Exceptions are made on an individual basis depending on the dog's needs, the person's dog experience, the dog's and person's activity levels, home environment and other factors.

> An application is required to adopt a pet and applicants must meet our adoption requirements. If you decide you'd like to adopt one of our dogs, we reserve the pet for you but we generally don't send the dog home with you that same day.
