Sunny's Story
Sunny is a sweet, energetic little guy who wants to be your best buddy! He's a happy, playful little boy who loves making new human and canine friends. He's curious and excited about everything in his little world. He loves to run and play outside with his foster siblings (even in the snow!). When indoors, he grabs his favourite toys to chew on and toss in the air.

Sunny is young, so he still has a lot to learn. He would benefit from an adopter who can help him learn his basic manners. He's very smart and super social. It's probably how he managed to survive on the streets in St. Lucia.

This bouncy little guy will flourish with an experienced owner who can give him structure. His energetic, playful demeanour would make him a great companion for an active family that loves to spend time outdoors.

Sunny's Rescue Story:
In December 2024, we were in St. Lucia when we found this little puppy curled up by himself on the street. We wanted to help him but were only there for a few hours because we were on a cruise. He was starving, had lost most of his hair from Mange and had open sores on his back from being attacked. Suffice it to say, he was in bad shape, and we couldn’t just walk by him and do nothing.

So, we contacted a local rescue and begged them to take 'Sunny' in so he could get medical attention and eventually become healthy enough to travel to Canada. We offered to cover all the costs involved so as not to add a burden on an already overwhelmed dog rescue.

We sent pictures of Sunny’s location, and 7 days later, on December 8th, they located him and took him to the SLAPS shelter (St. Lucia Animal Protection Society). Sonny received some much-needed veterinary care for his wounds and was given NextGuard (for ticks & fleas) and a dewormer. He was fully vaccinated, neutered, and given a SNAP 4dx test for HeartWorm (which was negative).

Fast-forward two months, and Sunny was healthy enough to travel from St. Lucia to Toronto. He could finally start his journey to finding his forever family thanks to a wonderful ‘Flight Angel,’ who agreed to escort him.

If you believe Sunny could 'light up your life' like a ray of sunshine, we kindly request that you complete the Adoption Application, which can be found at this link:
https://linktr.ee/CA

Age: 15 months old
Weight: 25 lbs
Breed: Mixed breed (the best kind!).
Sociability: Adults, children (8+), and dogs.
Energy Level: High energy.
Yard: Fenced yard required - he loves to spend time outdoors!
Training: Needs basic obedience training.
Medical Needs: None; however, he gets car sick sometimes.
Barking: Yes, sometimes, but it's not excessive (...he's a dog!).
Guarding Behaviours: None.
Separation Anxiety: Yes, a little bit, but it will decrease as he becomes more secure in his new life.
Dislikes: None that we've noticed.
Sleeping: He sleeps through the night on a dog bed in his foster parent's bedroom.

PLEASE NOTE:
1. Our adoption process does not operate on a first-come, first-served basis. Our priority is to find the most suitable home for our dogs. We kindly request your patience as we diligently work to ensure successful adoptions.

2. The description above is relevant to this dog's current setting. A change of home and different personalities of the adoptive family can bring out different behaviours not previously seen.

3. We do not claim or suggest that any of our dogs are hypoallergenic, low-shed or no-shed.

4. Our adoption fees cover expenses such as spay/neuter surgery, deworming, flea/tick/heartworm prevention, vaccinations, nose-to-tail health exam, high-quality food, treats, toys, leash, Martingale collar, harness, dog ID tag & the flight to Toronto. We are a registered Not-for-Profit Organization and rely solely on adoption fees and donations.

5. It is important to remember that CARF Canada provides post-adoption support to ensure a seamless transition into your home.

Thank you for opening your heart to adoption and giving rescue dogs a chance to be embraced by your family! Together, we can make a significant and heartfelt difference in the lives of homeless, abandoned or abused dogs.

If you have any further inquiries, don't hesitate to get in touch with us via email at Adopt@CARFCanadaDogRescue.com
or visit our website at www.CARFCanadaDogRescue.com
