Stephanie's Story

Stephanie, Your Perfect Retirement Companion

Location: Acton, ON

At 13 years young, Stephanie is a sweet Pug/Beagle cross who is ready to spend her golden years doing what she loves most: relaxing in a cozy home, enjoying gentle companionship, and being loved unconditionally.

Stephanie is spayed, up to date on her vaccines, heartworm negative, and has recently had senior bloodwork done. Her results were generally good, with the exception of hypothyroidism, for which she has started medication. She also has a history of seizures, occurring approximately once a year since puppyhood. Because they are so infrequent, she has never been, and is not currently, on medication for them.

This lovely senior girl has a gentle, easygoing personality and would make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a calmer lifestyle. She does well with respectful, gentle children and is great with cats! She can also coexist with other calm, low-energy dogs, but busy, boisterous, or high-energy canine companions aren’t her cup of tea.

Stephanie isn’t looking for adventure, long hikes, or a house full of excitement. She’s ready for a peaceful retirement home where she can enjoy comfy beds, a predictable routine, and plenty of affection.

When Stephanie arrived in our care, she was experiencing a urinary tract infection (UTI) and having accidents in the house. We understand this wasn’t typical behaviour for her, so we suspect the infection may have contributed. However, her future family should be prepared to offer frequent potty breaks and be patient as her needs are assessed.

What Stephanie is looking for:
A loving, peaceful home where she can enjoy her senior years.

A family who understands the needs of an older dog and can provide routine veterinary care.

Respectful, older, children and, potentially, feline friends or calm, low-energy dogs.

Someone who can provide frequent opportunities to go outside for potty breaks.

A soft place to land, a warm bed to snooze in, and a person to call her own.

Senior dogs like Stephanie have so much love left to give. She may be past the puppy antics, but she’s still deserving of all the comfort, kindness, and happiness life has to offer.

Could you be the retirement home this sweet girl has been waiting for? Stephanie would love nothing more than to spend her days by your side, soaking up the simple joys of being home.

Adoption application - https://udrcanada.ca/dog-adoption-application/

Underdog Railroad Canada's Adoption Policy
Our adoption fees vary depending on the expenses associated with that particular animal. We operate on a cost-recovery basis. Please contact us to confirm adoption fee if it is not posted. No animals are offered for free. All animals are adopted spayed/neutered if over 6 months of age. Those under 6 months of age are adopted under a spay and neuter contract and it is the adopter’s responsibility to ensure this is completed. Adoption contracts must be signed upon adoption and state that the animal is returned to UDR if circumstances ever change and the adopter can no longer care for the pet. Our process includes a completed application, a meet and greet with the animal and a home check upon adoption. Submitting an application for review does not guarantee an adoption will take place.
