Smoooooot!!!
This sweet, senior boy came to us all the way from Kentucky where he was rescued off of a chain and named after the man who saved him. ? Although malnourished and neglected (photo in the comments), this guy is a total lovebug. He is steadily gaining weight and confidence, getting shine in his fur, loves to play, nap and eat! His tail is always steadily wagging- thump, thump, thump.... ?
Smoot is a beagle mix so his nose will always be working overtime! He is learning to walk well on a leash and loves being outside but he cannot run off-leash, so a tall, fenced yard is preferred to keep him safe from his curiosities!
He is quickly learning house manners and what toys are. ? He loves to play with other dogs but could do well as an only dog also as long as he gets regular doggie social time. He was curious with the shelter cat but preferred to sniff the kitty room instead. ? He has cataracts forming but appears to see most things well and loves to play ball.
Smoot loves children but since he is still learning boundaries, small children are not the best fit for him as he can play a little rough and he likes to lean on people. My hope is that he will get to sleep in his person's bed or very close. He is so happy being in his little spot next to his family.
He will need a dedicated family to continue his recovery from a difficult past but if you are searching for a sweet, senior beagle boy who wants the best golden years ever, then this is the perfect guy!
Smoot is neutered, had a recent dental, is up to date on vaccinations and microchipped. He was a tiny 21 lbs when he was found and is up to 29 now and still steadily gaining weight. Our guess is 8-10 years old but he may surprise us with healthy food and lots of love!
