Meet Simon

Simon - Chocolate Lab - Male - 2 years - www.twyla.org

If you'd like to know more about this dog please visit www.twyla.org

Simon is a 2 year old male Chocolate Labrador mix, about 40-45 pounds, and has a high level of energy but it is controlled energy. He loves kids, is good with other dogs, is housetrained, and loves being on a leash (it means we are going somewhere!) but in his excitement he does pull on the leash. He is a very smart dog, is very good with kids, adapts to routines easily, and is easy to train. He loves to have a playmate and he was rescued with one (Luke) and it is clear they have bonded really well together. He likes to come and woof at you to let you know when he needs to go outside, and he woofs when you come home (he is happy to see you). He woofs when the door bell rings, and he woofs at people he is just meeting to say hello. Otherwise, not much of a barker. He has been neutered, has a chip, has his shots, is heart worm free, and gets his monthly treatments to prevent heartworms and fleas.

Simon showed up in his fosters Driveway on a very rainy, very cold day in early December. He had an open wound on his side (vet said it looks like he was hit by a car) but that has healed well. When he first came, he was very, very timid and it was clear that he was afraid of men (especially very tall men). He spent a lot of time in a high anxiety state and was very, very hungry.

Simon is a gentle soul with beautiful, intelligent eyes. He has a playful spirit he is finally letting show now that he feels secure and loved.

Simon came with his buddy Luke, and they love to be together. They play a lot, snooze together, and it is clear they ‘keep tabs’ on each other when they are running around the back yard or if we are out and about. Simon's ideal home would be one that also welcomed Luke as well as both are accustomed to being part of a ‘dog family’ or that at least has one other dog. Simon could also be content in an active home with kids to play with and a stay-at-home parent or work-from-home person, he craves attention. Simon needs a home where the dogs are just 4 legged kids. He loves sleeping in bed with his foster and and the other dogs in the house, get on the couch and chairs, run around with bursts of energy, and are included in conversations, even if they don’t understand what is being said all the time. He needs a house where people are there quite a bit (he would not do well with someone who works 12 hour days and depends on a dog sitter to stop by for 15-30 minutes daily to let him out and that is all). He needs human interaction on a steady basis.
