This adorable little guy came to us from a Wisconsin breeding farm and has quickly shown us just how friendly and loving he is. As he settles into his new surroundings, he's taking it all in and we think he's really starting to enjoy his new life. Sid is ready to find a forever family who will give him the love he deserves. We also believe his vision might be compromised in the other eye, per the vet. With us we have not seen much of an issue. We are not treating them and have not seen issues.

Please see our Resources page and the breeder release article to find out more information on what to expect when adopting a breeder release dog.

FOSTER UPDATE-
Sid has been in my home for two weeks now. He is definitely still shy, sticking to his favorite spots in my home for a good part of the day. UNTIL it’s time to eat. Sid loves his food and becomes much more animated when he sees the food bowls coming out. I feed Sid separately from the other two foster boys, not because of Sid, but because he is a slower eater and the other boys wouldn’t leave much for Sid if they all ate together.

Here is what I have learned about Sid so far:
Potty training: Sid did have a few accidents this week which is new. I believe adding two more dogs to the house may have brought this about. I have been taking Sid out every 3-4 hours, but he isn’t actually going potty more than once or twice per day. He takes care of business much more quickly when I ignore him on his training leash giving him his “privacy”.
Sid would be a good dog for a family that works away from home. He doesn’t crave constant attention from his people or from other animals. He is great with both, so if you are a single person, or a family, Sid could be your guy. He does not walk on a leash, and I don’t believe he ever will be your walking buddy. Just not his style.
Sid is slow moving, so I don’t believe a fenced yard would be a “must-have” for an adopter. A long training leash and a few minutes outside keeping an eye on him from a distance is really all he needs a few times a day. He is definitely a house dog, not an outdoorsy guy.
Sid is a non-shedding breed (Shih Tzu) and sits really nice for combs outs, nail trims, and the occasional ear cleaning. Floppy eared dogs need more attention to their ears, but Sid’s seem to be very clean and not much in need of regular maintenance as some other floppy eared dogs. Sid’s eyes are impaired due to an injury he had when he came into the rescue. They currently don’t require any special care, but this breed can be prone to dry-eye. Sid currently does not have that issue.
Sid won’t search you out for physical attention, but does let you pick him up and give him his favorite chin scratches and pets on the couch or your lap. He doesn’t jump up on furniture, but can take a few stairs up and down without having to be lifted up (if he is in the mood ;-) )

See more on his facebook page: Uknowuready

Fostered in East Troy.

ADOPTION FEE: $650

To adopt the FIRST STEP is to complete an APPLICATION at fluffydog.net

Adopters must be 24 years of age.
