Sherman

Sherman #1111

Age: 5 years old

Color & Breed: Brown Terrier Dachshund Mix

Gender: Neutered Male

Weight: 12 pounds

Sherman #1111 was part of a cruelty case in Texas. He was found with his swollen muzzle trapped between the slats of a wire kennel. He was also a body score of 1.5 out of 9, weighing in at just 9 pounds, had ticks in his ears, and abrasions on his legs and body.

Sherman was with four other dachshund mixes. All five had dental work done, collectively needing 64 teeth removed. (One had 24 taken out alone.) Another is heartworm positive. Sherman walks with a hop, which is both adorable and heartbreaking.

Despite all that, Sherman’s a sweet, happy guy who loves a lap. His favorite place to be, besides curled up on a couch, is directly behind you as you walk from here to there. He says he’d also enjoy a home that would let him sleep in their bed and under the blankets! Sherman is potty trained, dog friendly, and is curious and friendly to the cats in his foster home, and, surprisingly, despite his history, is crate trained and isn’t food aggressive. He is human-food curious, though, and isn’t beyond stealing a taste if he can get to it!

He still needs weight, and his body is covered in little healing scabs, but now he’s safe and is one step closer to finding a forever home that will always have food and blankies.
