Scarlet Labrador Retriever Mix Clayton, NC

Scarlet, our Southern bell, is a precious 33 pound lab mix, approximately 2 years old. She is one of those rescue pups with a heartbreaking story... She was rescued from a hoarding situation and was in critical condition, requiring a blood transfusion due to anemia from fleas and parasites. She was found with an extension cord tied around her neck, along with 18 other dogs (Scarlet and two of her sisters are at Red Barn). But she is a survivor! And very, very sweet .

She is understandably a little timid at times, but is blossoming. She wants to trust. Two weeks ago she had never walked on a leash but now she is a pro! She loves walks and attention and is learning to "play", but toys are a new experience for her.

Scarlet is very gentle, but because small kids may startle her we seek a home with adults or older children. You will not find a sweeter, more appreciative canine companion. She deserves a wonderful future, perhaps with you?

Scarlet is spayed, microchipped, vaccinated and up to date on heartworm and flea/tick preventative. Our $250 adoption fee covers these expenses.
