Sassy's Story
Meet Sassy đ

Sassy is a 2-year-old Chihuahua mix with a story unlike most. She was rescued from a homeless encampment after being dumped as a puppy and growing up completely feral. From a very young age, Sassy learned how to survive on her ownâfinding food scraps to eat and shelter to keep warm at night. She had no experience with human affection and was never held or shown what love felt like.

When we finally met Sassy, our initial goal was to get her spayed, but during her intake we discovered she had a fractured pelvis that had already healed on its own. We donât know how the injury happened, but itâs a testament to how resilient she truly is.

Adjusting to foster care took time. Learning to trust humans didnât come easily, but with patience and consistency, Sassy has made progress. She currently lives with dogs and cats, though she would do best as the only dog or possibly with calm, mellow cats. She does resource guard food and toys with other animals only, never with humans.

Sassy is not your typical dog. She startles easily, especially with loud noises or unfamiliar people, and she needs a home that understands her background and respects her boundaries. In the right environment, she is incredibly sweet. Once she feels safe, she loves to play, chew on bones, and quietly enjoy time with her person.

Sassy needs an adopter who is patient, experienced, and willing to love her for exactly who she is. With understanding and structure, she is a wonderful and loyal companion.

If youâd like to meet Sassy or have questions about her behavior, please email hungrytailz@gmail.com
or visit hungrytailzrescue.com
Click on the âAdoptâ tab, scroll down, and then click âAdopt Meâ to fill out an adoption application.
