Hi! My name is Sara and I am a 53lb Shepherd mix. My 1.5 years of life have been hard. A awesome family found me as a stray in Oklahoma and decided to take me home to become part of their family. My new mom became sick and passed away. It was hard for my new dad and he decided that he could not take care of me alone. He brought me to a shelter where I stayed until Lucky Mutts Rescue brought me to Wisconsin.
I am living with a foster family that has two kids (ages 8 and 6) and two other dogs. I really really love to follow the kids around and give them kisses. Sometimes the kids quick movements can scare me but I am feeling more comfortable everyday. Some of my favorite things to do are go for walks, go for car rides, snuggle, and play tug. I am unsure of the dogs that live there. One tries to get me to play but I do not like him to be in my space and I let him know it. I would also like to keep the family all to myself as well. When I want to be alone, the crate is a safe place for me and I enjoy laying in there.
I have so much love to give and I would love to have a place to finally call home.

If you would like to be considered as a potential adopter for one of our great dogs, please go to our website- www.luckymuttsrescue.org and submit an application. Our application process includes landlord approval and vet checks. Please make sure all of your information is current and accurate, including a valid email address and phone numbers. Inaccuracies and/or incomplete data will delay and/or cancel your application. We strive to process all applications in a timely manner, but with the high volume of applications we are receiving, it is taking anywhere from 1-3 weeks. You may be contacted via email if there are concerns or questions. Once all of your information is reviewed and if your application is approved, you will be notified via email. Submitting an application and receiving an approval does not guarantee you will be adopting the dog you applied for. Once you move to the meet and greet process, you will be contacted by the foster family to further discuss the dog, and answer questions you may have, and if applicable, a meet and greet will be set up at our adoption center. Meet and greets are only set up with approved applicants, and we require all members in the household to be present, as well as any current dogs in the home.

Current Adoption Fees Are:
$400+tax for puppies to 3 years old
$350+tax for ages 4-7
$250+tax for ages 8 and up
Bonded pairs vary

The adoption fee covers spay/neuter, up to date age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, general deworming, heartworm test, (if over 6 months) and a certified veterinary inspection. Please be aware, listed dog breeds are based on information provided and cannot be guaranteed. Submitting an application for a particular dog does not guarantee that you will be the applicant chosen, we receive several applications for each dog. Our adopters are picked based on the needs of the dog, and the home we feel with best fit based on your responses to our application, vet information and landlord requirements. Approved applicants not chosen for the dog you applied for, will be in active status for a period of six months. We encourage you to watch Petfinder, Facebook and our website for upcoming dogs.
