Sadie Girl Chocolate Labrador Retriever Killingworth, CT

Sadie is a 1 year old beautiful chocolate female who weighs in at 49 pounds. Her foster mom says it all below:

December 4, 2023 Update from Sadie’s foster mom in Connecticut: "Sadie has been with us for almost two weeks now and what a difference from the frightened pooch that first day. She is now housebroken, rides well in the car, and gets along great with her three foster siblings. She is an affectionate dog once you’ve earned her trust. She will nuzzle your hand for attention and gives great eye contact to check in with you. Sadie is not crated at night but is gated in a small room next to the master bedroom. She settles down nicely at night, and not a peep from her until the morning. However, if you wait too long, she will grab a squeeky toy to let you know she’s awake! She absolutely loves her dog bed as she has never had a bed previously. Sadie has also discovered the joy of squeeky toys and will run through the yard throwing the ball in the air and play all by herself. Sadie runs like the wind and is able to jump a tall baby gate from a standing position. With her strong food drive and toy motivation she will be easy to train. She could excel at agility or dock diving with the right training. She loves to run and tumble in the yard with her foster sister. She is also learning that riding in the car usually results in some type of adventure and can be fun. Walking on leash was new to Sadie as well and although she has additional work to do, with the assistance of a no-pull harness she is making great progress. Sadie is shy when she meets new people. Due to the isolation she faced while she was in the kennel, it can take a while for her to trust people. Patience and love are the key to earning that trust and bringing out the very best of the dog Sadie can become."

To expedite the process, please follow the step-by-step instructions outlined and submit an adoption application listing 3-5 dogs of interest. ADOPTION FEES: $495 non-refundable adoption fee for all vet expenses (spay/neuter, shots, etc.) and transportation to ensure your lab gets to you in a safe, professional manner. All fees may be paid using PayPal, cashier's checks, or money orders. Labs4rescue does not accept personal checks for adoption fees. All adopters must pay their Labs4rescue adoption fee prior to the rescue shipping their dog.

Residents of Massachusetts or New Hampshire are required to pay an additional $125 fee, which defrays the cost of their state's mandatory 48 hour isolation and examination by a licensed veterinarian.
