Rusty's Story
Rusty is a 7-year-old Dachshund/Miniature Poodle mix who may be a little shy when you first meet him, but underneath that nervous exterior is a boy who truly loves attention.

Rusty arrived at CCHS with his mother, and he is learning that there are more people in this world to love than just one person. He is adjusting to being handled by more people and, while he can be nervous at first, he does accept it and is making progress every day.

He is also working on his leash manners and continuing to learn that new experiences don’t have to be scary. Rusty will accept treats, but on Rusty’s terms! He likes to take his time and decide when he’s comfortable.

Rusty has been around several other dogs, all smaller, and has done well. His temperament with cats is currently unknown.

Rusty is looking for a family who understands that trust takes time. He needs someone willing to be patient, spend time with him, let him come out of his shell, and show him that he has so many people who will love him.

He may not be the dog who runs up to you on day one, but give him time, patience, and plenty of love, and you just might become one of his favorite people.
