Meet Rufus

Do you like big mutts with huge smiles? If so, I am your man! Weighing in at 85 lbs of love I am the largest lap dog you could ever hope to meet. Yep, you read that right! I just love to sit in my foster dad's lap. It was love at first sight for me.

At just 3 years old, I am in doggie adolescence. Like all adolescents I need patience and consistent training to mature into the awesome dog I am destined to be.

A good judge of character, I know what I want when it comes to family. Young kids are not for me, but a quiet home with experienced "big dog" people would be perfect. Older, mature teens are fine! I play well with the other dogs in my foster home, and would enjoy a family with a canine playmate! I do well with dog-savvy cats, too!

I need time to feel safe and to establish trust before a lot of demands are placed upon me, but once that bond is created I'm your pal.

I am very food motivated so earning my trust can be as easy as offering me a hot dog!

Just like Clifford, the Big Red Dog there are a lot of theories as to my ancestry. Whatever the mixture of breeds, the result is a devastatingly handsome guy whose primary breed is love.

Up to date on vaccines, neutered, and negative for Heartworm and Lyme disease, I am a healthy galoot ready for a new beginning.

Rufus is being fostered in Framingham, MA.

The adoption fee is $400

We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.

NOTE: Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label
