Rocco 3514's Story
04/12/26. One-year-old Rocco is still waiting for his forever home.

He’s currently training with the wonderful team at Diversity K9, and he’s absolutely crushing his goals. He enjoys other dogs, and while he can be a little cautious when meeting new people at first, he warms up with patience and trust—then turns into a total Velcro cuddle bug.

Rocco is a true working Doberman, so he’ll thrive with an adopter who’s committed to continuing his training and helping him be the best version of himself.

Here’s what his fabulous trainer has to say:

He’s honestly the best guy. He’s crate trained, walks great on a leash, and has a stellar recall. He knows place/down/stay, tug, drop, center, forward, back, and he’s muzzle trained. He’s good with baths and great with other dogs—he just plays really rough and tumble.

He’s done well with both male and female dogs, big and small, but he can be a lot when he plays—so he wouldn’t be a good match for a dog that doesn’t share his play style.

He’s good with people too, but he needs a little time before he wants pets. Once he warms up, he’s a total cuddle bug who thinks he’s a 10‑lb Chihuahua.

He’s happy to walk next to new people, take treats, do recall, etc. I’m just big on not pushing physical affection—especially with guarding breeds—and letting the dog have a say in the interaction.

He’s high energy and LOVES to work. He’s so fun to train—then after 10 minutes, I sit down and he literally throws himself into my lap like, “Cuddle time!”

He’s the biggest goofball I’ve ever met and insanely smart. I truly can’t say enough good things about him. I’ve worked with so many dogs and I love them all, but some are extra special—and he’s 10,000% one of them.

If you’re ready for your new best friend, Rocco might be your guy. It all starts with an application.

1/24/26. Rocko is currently enjoying an eight-week training program with Diversity K9!
Once he completes his training, he'll be ready to find his forever home.
Be sure to check back for updates on his journey! Not every dog is available for adoption or need a foster - some are wards of the rescue (usually due to medical reasons, but sometimes behavioral). These dogs will always be supported by DRL. We welcome financial support for these dogs. Here are links to foster and adoption applications for those dogs who need a foster home or adoptive home.
Foster Application Adoption Application
