Everything is brand new to this sweet dog.. She must have a mentor dog in the home and a patient human who understands that "slow and steady" wins the race. <br/><br/>Foster Update:<br/>Adorable Portland came to us as our foster girl in January. She is such a sweet dog! Portland was used for breeding for many years and lived on a farm. She did not experience love or living in a house with a family but instead only knew her small world of life in a barn and having pups. Yet, she still maintains her kind attitude in every situation! Portland is still shy and slightly skittish but time and routine continues to improve her outlook on people. We are not so scary anymore! :)<br/><br/>Portie is now catching up to the “good life” of love in a home that she always deserved! She adores her special dog bed she has chosen and loves her foster family!<br/><br/>Portland has made lots of progress in her time with us. Here is what she knows:<br/><br/>*Portland has found a soft dog bed she loves and spends much of her day lounging in “her” bed.<br/>* Portland has learned to climb our many stairs both up and down.<br/>*Portland knows her name and will come in from the yard when called.<br/>* Portland is practicing going potty outside and is doing very well! She is quick to get down to business and we have a fenced yard.<br/>*Portland loves walking on a leash and her face lights up and tail wags high as she prances along. She is working on her stamina.<br/>*Portland sleeps in a crate quietly in our bedroom.<br/>*I can now approach Portland to pick her up and we sit together daily on the couch practicing socialization. She is relaxing and seems to like the attention and cuddling more and more.<br/>*Portie is sweet to women and men alike and is quiet and calm in our home. She is not a barker.<br/><br/>Portland gets along well with other dogs, loves food and gently takes her treats. She stands still for all grooming and is also crate trained.<br/><br/>Portie is a darling girl who looks like a white baby bear. She has short legs and a little toddle to her walk. She is quiet and non shedding. Her fur is soft and thick. Portie will need another dog in the house to be her mentor. A fenced yard would be preferred for her because she does love her routines and is still somewhat skittish. She will go potty on her walks.<br/><br/>We love little Portland! She has settled in well to life in a house. She will be a sweet, quiet, soft little companion for anyone NOT looking for too much action.
