- Vaccinations up to date, spayed / neutered, special needs. Portia is blind due to having previously untreated chronic dry eye. It doesn't slow her down in the least! She does, however, need twice-daily OTC lubricating eye drops for the remainder of her life.

MEET PORTIA!
This sweet, mild-mannered Shih Tzu is quite the catch! Portia was brought to Philly's animal control shelter is horrendous shape. Her eyes were crusted shut and her fur was so matted that we had to shave her all the way down so we could treat the skin underneath. Portia has healed from her past beautifully and is now ready to find the perfect home!
At the estimated age of 10, Portia is the perfect combination of spunky and chill. She's got plenty of energy for a walk to the coffee shop but is also always down for a nap on the couch. In fact, napping is her favorite activity and one of the only sounds she makes is snoring! She adores snuggling with her foster mom and will climb in her lap and paw at her hand to get her to pet her. Portia is blind, likely due to untreated chronic dry eye, but it doesn't slow her down in the least. She can easily still find her people and ask for attention, find the kitchen when dinner time approaches, and the back door when she needs a bathroom break. Portia is house trained, good with kids and is currently living with other dogs (and has recently even started initiating play with them!), cats, bunnies and birds in her foster home - a well-rounded girl!
Upon coming to COEL she was spayed, had several benign mammary tumors removed, and had a full dental workup. She was diagnosed with chronic dry eye (KCS) and will need to be on over-the-counter lubricating eye drops twice daily for the rest of her life which she doesn't mind. She is otherwise a healthy lady!
