Poppy's Story
Our cute tripod Miss Poppy has had quite the journey and is finally ready to start accepting applications for adoption . After 2 months in foster with us its clear how much this girl means to us! We would keep her but we have to keep spots open for future fosters which means she needs her forever home.

Poppy is a 5 month old Pyrenees that has congenital abnormalities so we will be a bit more strict with who adopts this cutie. We need an adopter that can financially afford her future care and will understand that her deformed front leg will lead to earlier mobility issues. Poppy was in a kill shelter scheduled to be put down due to her deformed front legs. One front leg was causing her pain and significant mobility issues so we did have to amputate that leg. Her other front leg has less toes than normal and is shorter than her back legs. She is doing great with mobility now but will need a special home that can support her in the future.

Although she is special needs in some ways she is also very much the personality of a Pyrenees puppy in other ways. Her adopter will need to continue to work on training plus setting boundaries so she can continue to thrive and be the sweet girl that she is. Poppy absolutely adores every person that she meets and can never have too much attention.

Poppy has gone everywhere on the Oregon coast with me for work and does incredible in the car and also in a kennel when needed. She has her spunky puppy moments but overall is more relaxed than most puppies her age. Poppy does great with cats and is learning chickens are for watching, not playing with. She does well with most dogs but does get overwhelmed with rambunctious large dogs at times and will try to flee. She has been working on her confidence with new dogs and has made huge strides but would benefit from slower intros to energetic larger dogs.

If you feel you match Poppys needs please apply on figzdogrescue.org!
