Poppy's Story

Poppy<br/><br/>Meet Poppy, a sweet, curious, and very affectionate three-year-old English Bulldog/Shih Tzu mix who weighs twenty-five pounds! She's moderate energy and VERY people-oriented. She loves people and is thrilled to meet anyone who comes over. She adjusts quickly to new places, and a few treats help her settle right in.<br/><br/>Poppy loves to say hello to other dogs and has been friendly with dogs her own size. She's potty trained, goes on walks, and has the stamina for a longer one when you're up for it. She's learning to sit and listens well when you tell her to come. She's very treat motivated, which makes training a breeze. When she has a bone, rawhide, or chew to work on, she stays happily occupied and will nap nearby while you work.<br/><br/>She does a cute stand on her hind legs when she wants something. She's a great apartment dog who can join you on outings, too.<br/><br/>Poppy would do best with an adopter who wants a highly affectionate companion, in a moderate household.<br/><br/>**What her foster says about her:**<br/>"She is ridiculously wiggly, the second she starts to get your attention her tail starts wagging a mile a minute and her whole body goes along with it. She also does a very funny little belly crawl when she's trying to approach you without being too jumpy. She's a silly little girl and she just wants love and attention."<br/><br/>**INTERESTED IN ADOPTING?**<br/>To adopt apply on our website [www.truenorthrescue.org/adopt](https://www.truenorthrescue.org/adopt) and email adopt@truenorthrescue.org to follow up on your application.<br/><br/>PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL TO ASK IF HE/SHE IS AVAILABLE. IF THIS LISTING IS UP, THE DOG IS NOT ADOPTED YET.<br/><br/>Also, we have a very high volume of applications and we are all volunteers. We cannot respond to every application personally. Please make sure your application gives us a good picture of your family and the life you plan on providing a dog from our rescue. We choose a home based on the BEST FIT for EACH dog and approve on a dog by dog basis. Thank you!

True North Pet Rescue Mission's Adoption Policy
First Step: Submit Your Application True North does not issue blanket approvals, we consider the needs of each specific dog when reviewing applications. If you don't have a specific dog in mind when applying, please note this on your application so that we can keep this in mind when reviewing. We require home photos for all applicants, but can accept a video replacement. Please enter as much detail as possible on your application, this helps us better understand what you are looking for and how this relates to the needs of the dog you have applied for. For puppies under 12 weeks, we require a care plan. This includes a plan for when the dog will be left alone, as puppies younger than 12 weeks should not be left alone longer than 2-3 hours at a time. Please Note: Due to the high volume of applications we receive, it is not always possible to reply to everyone. If your application is approved, you can expect the following. Second Step: Application Review & Approval 1. If your application is approved, an email will be sent connecting you with the dog's current foster. At this time, you may schedule a mutually convenient time to meet. 2. After meeting, you have 24 hours to confirm if you would like to move forward with finalizing the adoption. After this, if we have not heard from you, we will begin scheduling other meets. 3. If you choose to finalize, we will issue an adoption contract via email. Once the signed agreement has been electronically returned along with the adoption fee (which will be disclosed prior to adopting), you will be all set to coordinate for pick-up with the foster! Adoption Fees: Our adoption fees are comparable to those found amongst other well-known rescues in the city. We only accept electronic payments for adoption fees.
