Meet Poppie

Poppie is ready to share her story!

Hello, my lovelies! It is sooooo good to finally meeting you. I have been waiting for what seems like FOREVER, to introduce myself! I know my foster needed to get to know me first and I needed my photoshoot, but guys I am so READY! I am ready to go on adventures, to run through the lake, to go on car trips, to go hiking, and to finally have a best friend of my very own!

My name is Poppie and I am a 10-12-month-old, 52lb female Great Pyrenees/Aussie mix. Or that is at least the best guess on my breed. I came to the rescue after I found myself in the shelter. It was obvious that I had always been loved and spoiled growing up, so why they left me all alone in the shelter...I don't know. I can't tell you. What I can say though is they were not meant to be my forever. You on the other hand though, you might just be them! ?

Ever since I ended up homeless I have been dreaming of a forever family. One that will love me for the rest of my life! I know it is a big decision so I had my foster family fill out this questionnaire to make sure you are 100% sure about me!

-How does your foster act when meeting new people?
Poppie doesn't know a stranger and thinks everyone is as eager to meet her as she is them!

-Has your foster been to any public settings?
We recently hosted a party with a lot of people and she was pretty excited.

-Is your foster leash trained?
We walk her with a harness and she does pretty well. She is still young so she pulls if there is a squirrel or a person.

-Does your foster like going on walks? Yes!!

-Would your foster enjoy hiking?
Yes! She could probably walk for miles and miles!!

-Does your foster do on car rides?
Yes. She loads and unloaded almost perfectly

-Does your foster jump on people?
Yes. But we are working on that.

-Describe your fosters energy level?
Poppie loves playing. She is on the more active side but in the evening she will cuddle up next to you to watch tv and get pets.

-Is your foster a big chewer?
She is young so we don't leave things out.

-Does your foster like to play fetch?
Yes, she sure does!

-Does your foster like to play in the water?
I am not sure.

-Does your foster play with Toys?
Oh yes! She loves all the toys.

-Does your foster have any food aggression?
Nope.

-Does your foster resource guard?
She hogs toys but when other dogs come to take them she doesn't growl or anything.

-Do you think your foster would be okay with free-roam of the house even if you are away?
Absolutely as long as you keep in mind she is still young and keep things like shoes and yeah put up.

-Is your foster potty trained?
She sure is. But we have a doggie door so that helps.

-Is your foster kennel trained?
No.

-Where does your foster sleep at night?
I swore when we started fostering that there would be no fosters in bed with us. By day two Poppie was sleeping contentedly in between Kyle and I.

-Where does your foster stay when no one is home?
Wherever she wants. She has access to inside and outside. We recently left all the dogs alone for ten hours with a neighbor checking in on them and we had no shenanigans.

-Is your foster good with other dogs?
Yes.

-How does your foster act around other dogs?
So playful! She is a hard player like shepherds and huskys.

-Does your foster need another dog in their new home?
I think that would be best but not a deal-breaker as long as the adopter understands she is active.

-Is your foster good with cats?
Yes. She can sleep in bed with a cat now and relax however if a cat were to run I am pretty sure Poppie would have to chase it.

-Is your foster good with kids?
Oh yes!!!

-Would your foster dog do good in an apartment?
That would be a lot of energy to contain but it could be done.

-Is your foster a big barker?
She is not. At first, we thought she was but as she has figured out the area she doesn't bark at cows anymore.

-What would be your fosters ideal home?

Poppie needs a person that is hers. She loves being adored and pet. She wants to sleep in bed with you. She is so playful with the other dogs so having a friend who also loves to play and run and wrestle would be awesome!

-Is there anything else you would like to mention about your foster dog?

Poppie is the social butterfly on the playground! She will go from dog to dog making sure all three are engaged in play with her! She has the softest fur and will happily lay there next to you so you can pet her. She has that high-strung personality like an Aussie which makes her fun, smart, and game for just about whatever you have in mind! She will make a great addition to any home.

Phew! That took longer than I thought! Hopefully, all your questions about me were answered though! Before you apply to adopt me I have a few last things that I would like to discuss!

-How can someone adopt me?
The first step is to fill out an adoption app for me at https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app

Once this app comes in, it will get sent on to my foster family and they will help me decide if we are a match or not.

-Where are you being fostered?
I am being fostered in Broken Arrow, OK.

-Would I need to pick you up?
Yes, you would need to pick me up. This rescue does not send us on transports. It is less stress on us that way. Plus, you and I can already start bonding on the road trip home!

-Can I adopt you even if I don't live in Oklahoma?
Yes, I am okay moving to a new state.

-How much is your adoption fee?
My adoption fee is $225.

That includes my DHLPP, Rabies, and Bordatella shots. I will be micro-chipped, heart-worm tested, have a fecal done, be de-wormed, be spayed/neutered, and will be current on heart-worm and flea/tick prevention.
